The world doesn’t need another weight loss program.
The truth is — they all work.
The problem is not losing weight on them.
The real problem is everyone RE-GAINS lost weight. Then gain a few pounds more than when they first started.
Weight loss programs make you RE-GAIN weight.
Most Americans are 10 to 20 pounds overweight when they first tried a commercial weight loss program. They lose about 8 pounds. One year afterwards, they are 20 to 30 pounds overweight.
Weight loss customers attempt to lose weight 4-9 times with various weight loss programs. Each time, one year later, they weigh an extra 10 pounds.
As a result, Americans are an average of 30 pounds to 50 pounds overweight. Plus a HUGE and rapidly growing percentage of us are now 75 pounds to 100 pounds or more overweight.
The big name weight loss programs have been in business 30-40 years or more, with millions and tens of millions of customers of having used their programs. Most of their customers are REPEAT customers. Which leads to a startling conclusion…
…THE NUMBER ONE CAUSE OF WEIGHT RE-GAIN IN AMERICA? Weight Loss programs.
If weight loss PROGRAMS worked, we would all be skinny.

HEART PLAN — WEIGHT LOSS SUCCESS Begins in Your Heart
by Boyd Jentzsch
Boyd, a recovering Attorney, turned to weight loss research 20 years ago when he lost his mother to the lifelong effects of obesity. He has spent the ensuing years searching the science, and formulating a comprehensive metabolic map of the body — the only complete map of its kind. The map reveals the causes and effects of obesity and related chronic lifestyle diseases. It shows the only proven pathways to preventing and losing excess weight. From that unique foundation, he and his team created a weight loss education program that has helped tens of thousands to lose weight and keep it off. Plus, they created innovative and fun fitness and nutrition education programs for elementary school children, proven to reduce the early bio-markers for childhood obesity. HEART PLAN is a collection of his observations over the years of the emotional impact and motivational challenges nearly everyone faces when trying to keep lost weight off permanently.

I am working on finding my WHY in Weight Loss – LOVE this post – Thank you!!
I never looked at it like that, but it makes perfect sense. Everyone would be skinny if the programs worked LOL. The post is an eye opener!
Obesity has become such an epidemic in our society it is clear diets don’t work. Heart Plan sounds like a smart and healthy approach to weight loss. <3
Loosing weight is a process. You explained it wonderfully. Loved it !
You have my attention completely!! I need this! TY
This is so true! I’m done with “weight loss programs” and I’m just trying to be healthier as a lifestyle. Great post!
I feel if you are healthier you will feel good about yourself. When you feel good about yourself you tend to make life changes which is very important for weight loss and keeping the weight off. 🙂
I am so overweight right now.. I did so good when I did Nutrisystem… And then I gained it all back. I am struggling really hard right now!
Amanda,
I hear you.
What I would recommend is to start from the very beginning – read one-by-one all posts so far on HEART PLAN.
Also, what would be helpful in understanding is to watch short videos that Boyd allowed us to use here.

I know it is very true.. i am a yoyo.. i lose then gain, and so on.. i am trying to keep it off.. i need motivation!
Yeah there are so many weight loss programs available but the reality is that it’s not all about the program but more about the person’s discipline and consistency in diet.
I have been successfully losing weight for almost four months now. You have to do what you like and eat foods your like for it to last.
I’ve been on my diet for a year now. It was good at first, but tapering off. Thanks for the motivation
I’m not successful on diets but I do try to eat healthier. So anything helps at this point. Great post!
It Is Just So Hard To Loose Weight I Hope This Will Help I Will Stay Tuned!!
It’s very important to eat healthy and exercise
I avoid dieting and I eat healthy food..
“The number one cause of weight re-gain in America? Weight loss programs.” Well said! It needs to be a lifestyle change (permanent) not just another yo-yo diet.
That’s the biggest trouble with dieting, when people come off it, they go back to their normal eating habits.
Putting on more weight as a result!
I really liked your blog post, its all about eating right and exercising!
I so need to heed your advice! Heart disease runs in my family and after having 5 kids I so need to lose weight!
The post is a real eye opener! And I just loved the way you have described it all
Thank you! 🙂 In order to be successful you have to do a lifestyle change not a diet.
I guess it’s should not be called diet but lifestyle. Change lifestyle not the diet, just eat healthy and regular exercise.
Oh wow! a few things I didn’t realize. I suppose you’re right though because otherwise everyone would do it, right? Weight loss is hard!
I haven’t really look at this in this perspective – thanks for sharing!
I have noticed this efffect myself. I really wish I could find the way that would actually get my weight down and then stay there. I think it must be more personal that they think today.
Thank you for sharing this. I am always in a battle with my weight.
The thing with weight loss is you need to do it for the right reasons and most importantly, you must do it the right way. More often than not the right way is not exactly fast and will require tons of discipline. Lose weight fast, you gain it back in a jiffy.
