Boyd, a recovering Attorney, turned to weight loss research 20 years ago when he lost his mother to the lifelong effects of obesity. He has spent the ensuing years searching the science, and formulating a comprehensive metabolic map of the body — the only complete map of its kind. The map reveals the causes and effects of obesity and related chronic lifestyle diseases. It shows the only proven pathways to preventing and losing excess weight. From that unique foundation, he and his team created a weight loss education program that has helped tens of thousands to lose weight and keep it off. Plus, they created innovative and fun fitness and nutrition education programs for elementary school children, proven to reduce the early bio-markers for childhood obesity. HEART PLAN is a collection of his observations over the years of the emotional impact and motivational challenges nearly everyone faces when trying to keep lost weight off permanently.

  10. Good point. I can’t comment on this much because I’ve always wanted to gain weight growing up. Fortunately metabolism caught up with me after kids and I’m at my ideal weight now. 🙂

  14. Interesting…good point. My problem is my head.

  15. That’s a great way of looking at it. Weight loss starts with your head!

  16. That’s part of the reason why I call weight loss “eating healthier” or “getting in shape” rather than saying I’m going on a diet. The word diet makes me feel deprived, like I CAN’T have the foods I want to have. When I think of it as trying to be healthier, I don’t feel guilty for overindulging every once and a while, as long as I just go to the gym the next day.

  17. What a great article! You really do have to get your head right first. I’ll be checking out the links you featured. Thanks!

  18. I agree. Very interesting article. I think it’s all a mindset.

  19. So true. My mind definitely needs to get it right. Thanks for the tips.

  20. Thats a great way to put it, I never thought about it like that. I need to work on my will power as well 🙁

  21. That photo definitely a shocker…makes you think about losing weight for sure. I need to lose 20 lbs by next month – YIKES!!!

  22. I think people should start losing unwanted fats just because they are surrounded by people who loves them, and do not want to lose them.

  23. Haha, ever thought of it that way! Definitely true, though!

  24. A fathead is the first hurdle, you’re right!

  25. Definitely true. All about brain and willpower. Although I’ve tried hypnosis (a version of) and even that worked the wrong way for me!

  26. Melissa Smith says

Talk about a post to get you thinking! But I totally agree that you have to be in the right mindset for the weight to really be able to come off. A treadmill is pointless if you’re thinking about donuts! LOL

  27. If we think it we can achieve it. Great points in your post, thank you for sharing.
